Equal Pay Day was originated by the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) in 1996 as a public awareness event to illustrate the gap between men's and women's wages. Every year, women's salaries are earning closer to our male counterparts. However, in Virginia collectively women still only make 0.79 for every dollar paid to men (and that number is even lower for women of color).
While the pay gap is no laughing matter, this event is a playful reminder that when women come together, great things are accomplished. This event is an opportunity to meet other A+E women in the Roanoke Valley while enjoying your first drink on AECOM.
