If you have had involvement with the Justice System in the past and are interested in participating in the Manufacturing Skills for Success training program, please register to attend this series of classes. This opportunity is being provided at no cost to participants in the East TN region that want to increase their knowledge about manufacturing in order to gain employment in the manufacturing sector. Don't miss out on this opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities that our local manufacturers are seeking in employees. Classes will be held at the Jacksboro American Job Center at 1016 Main Street, Jacksboro, TN 37757 beginning May 1, 2023, and ending May 12, 2023, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm each weekday. All participants will be enrolled in American Job Center programs (Titles I, II, and III) to assist with placement tests, supportive services, resume help and job search assistance. Lunch and refreshments will be provided each day. Manufacturing Skills for Success Training AgendaMay 1st – Workplace Skills - Learn how to be a valued employee and how to work effectively with others. May 2nd – 5S / The Visual Workplace - Learn the concepts of the 5S system and then apply them to transform a cluttered, disorganized production area into a clean, orderly, and efficient workplace. May 3rd - Math for Manufacturing - Learn or review basic math skills used in a manufacturing environment. May 4th - Principles of Lean Manufacturing -Learn the basics of lean manufacturing and how it can improve a manufacturing operation through a fast-paced, hands-on simulation. May 5th - Print Reading for Manufacturing - Learn to read and interpret engineering prints used in manufacturing. May 8th - Measurement for Manufacturing - Learn to use a variety of measurement tools commonly used in manufacturing, including calipers, gauge blocks, and comparators. May 9th - Quality Tools & Techniques - Learn what quality is, why it is important, and the basic quality tools organizations use to monitor and improve process quality. May 10th – OSHA for General Industry - Learn how to stay safe at work in a manufacturing environment and obtain your OSHA 10 safety card. May 11th – OSHA 10 continued (4 hrs), Effective Communication & Critical Thinking (4 hrs) - Continue learning how to stay safe at work in a manufacturing environment and obtain your OSHA 10 card. Learn key skills needed to clearly and effectively send and receive messages; learn and practice critical thinking skills through activities that mimic situations related to the workplace. May 12th - Problem Solving - Learn and implement the Plan-Do-Check-Act problem-solving method to solve a simulated problem in a manufacturing environment.
