Ààre visualizes an expansive man through movement and a contemporary lens. It is a movement and dance performance piece that serves as archival preservation of cultural heritage and a symbolic representation of personal identity in a commemorative manner. Ààre includes the study of ewi (poems), oriki (panegyric), and the examination of reverberations of the Yoruba culture and oral tradition amongst other Yoruba relevancies. This project is a reconnection to Taoheed's childhood, a recollection, and a celebration of those memories and being Yoruba. A remembrance of his subconscious and innocent assimilation of cultural values and traditions that informs his identity. A form of education for the audience and a contribution to his being.
