Description
On the one-year anniversary weekend since my mom's home-going to Heaven, my husband Jim and I will be coming to Ohio to finally pay tribute to the life of my mom, doing as many of the things she loved to do, in the places and with the people she loved to do them, and then privately going to scatter her ashes in the places she wanted them. I'm calling this weekend's mission "Operation Butterfly Dance" because she loved butterflies, LOVED to dance, and I know that her journey to Heaven was a rebirth of her body, that like a butterfly, released her from the grips of Alzheimer's to walk, sing and DANCE again in a new body. So we'll have a list with us to check off that weekend on our mission to remember her as much as possible, and have as much fun as possible doing it! SATURDAY, April 1, 2023 - The Celebration of Life for Vicki : Stories & Laughs It's been so long since I've been able to come back home, and I'm so looking forward to seeing as many of you as can be there, to come and laugh and share with me the memories and stories you have of my amazing mom. Again, we'll gather in the afternoon, tentatively at Shoreline Park in the shelter there in Sandusky, Ohio, weather permitting of course, to gather and share memories for as long as we feel like being there. Her lifelong friend and husband, Linda & Dick Howell are my connection there in Sandusky, and my eyes and ears for helping make this a weekend to remember. This will be informal for sure, but if you own any orange, black or turquoise-colored attire, and feel like wearing it that day, those were her favorite colors, so I'm sure she'd get a kick out of looking down on that from Heaven. Food will likely be a part of the plan, whether we have some there or we all make our way somewhere to break bread together, so you are welcome to come and join in that too. Some of you I have never met, but I know you were such a big part of my mom's life, so I can't wait to meet you and see her through your eyes. And if you have any old pictures of her you'd like to bring, I'd love to see those too!! SUNDAY, April 2, 2023 On Sunday, we'll be on the first ferry over to Put-in-Bay, to spend the day there, continuing to check off the fun list of things my mom and I used to do, in her honor. Anyone who wants to join us at Put-in-Bay for all or part of the fun is welcome to come! We know the weather in April may be a bit chilly, and all of the items on the fun list a bit pricey for some, so we totally understand if you are not able to hang out with us on Sunday too—but we want everyone to know the invitation is open in case you do! Sunday will be our last day in Sandusky area since we are driving there, and so we'll be heading back toward home on Monday morning. Whether you come give us hugs for 5 minutes on Saturday, or come only on Sunday part of the day, or come to all of it—whatever you can do, I'd love to see your face and know that you loved my mom as much as I do! See ya'll soon! **Please RSVP if you plan on coming on Saturday, so we have an idea of how many are planning to be there. Note: if the weather is too bad/cold, we'll change the venue to somewhere else in Sandusky, and I'll be sure to update it here in the Eventbrite page! If you have any QUESTIONS, just click the "Ask the Organizer" button and it will send me your message so I can respond. I can also be reached by FB private messenger or at [email protected]. **NOTE: I am sharing this event PRIVATELY with certain folks, so please do NOT publish this link on your own Facebook page or other social media pages for the world to see, or send it to anyone else. Thank you for respecting these wishes.
