Born in the State of Pernambuco, Erisson Thompson began to study ikebana, in 1977, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and became junior instructor four years later. In 1987, he obtains the level of full professor.
He got involved more and more with ikebana theory, practice and expansion, participated, of the associação de Ikebana do Brasil (Brazilian Ikebana Association) – AIB. He takes office as vice-president and remained in office during the first two terms. When the board of directors was renewed in 2012, he was elected AIB president, and remained in office until 2020, after three reelections. In 2014, simultaneously, he took office as the president of the Bunkyo Ikebana committee.
For more than forty years, he has been dedicating himself to ikebana, one of the fi nest arts of Japanese culture. Few people succeed in mastering the refi nement and perfection as it is difficult to express, through a flower arrangement, the simplicity, the beauty, the respect for nature and the balance between Heaven and Earth.
