Story slams are events that celebrate storytelling by inviting participants to share brief stories with an audience. Participants deliver the stories verbally and stories are limited to 5 minutes. Then the judges will scored them on a scale of 0.1 to 10 based upon originality, content and performance of their story. Can use music or props.

A Poetry Slam Is a Poetry Art spokenword competition were the participants have three minutes with a 22nd grace period to recite all read an original poem, Then the judges will scored them on a scale of 0.1 to 10 based upon originality, content and performance of their poem. The person with the highest score is the Tejas Poetry Slam Champion.
