More has been written about Hamlet than about any other work of literature. No interpretation of its enigma can be final, but Theodore Dalrymple - cultural critic, prison physician, and psychiatrist - will suggest an interpretation that will be of particular interest at the present time, suggesting that we are no nearer to understanding ourselves than was Hamlet.
