Join us for a fun filled fundraising event at Cinema Detroit where will be showcasing the award winning film, Pheasants of Detroit by local filmmaker and Detroit Audubon board member, Diane Cheklich, as well as the feature film, Birders: The Central Park Effect, that celebrates the thrill and impact of birding in urban areas. Guest speakers will include two "stars" of the Pheasants of Detroit film, The Filmmaker herself, and a local bird expert, Pete Blank. In between films, place your bid on a wide variety of silent auction items. All proceeds go toward Detroit Audubon’s mission to protect birds and the environment we share.

Pete Blank Biography-
Pete Blank is the Northwest Ohio Restoration Manager for The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in Ohio. He has a bachelor’s in Earth and Planetary Science from the Johns Hopkins University, a master’s in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology from the University of Maryland, and a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Maryland. His graduate research focused on habitat restoration for grassland birds and he now uses that background to restore habitat for birds and other wildlife in the Oak Openings Region of Ohio and Michigan. Pete is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. He is a life-long birder and loves to learn about anything in nature. He also enjoys biking, camping, and kayaking. He and his wife, Erin, moved to southern Michigan in 2018 to be closer to family.
