What is Lunar New Year?Lunar New Year is an important and widely celebrated holiday across many Asian communities and cultures. Celebrations include large community festivities as well as in-home gatherings with extended family. Because the celebration is timed according to the lunar calendar, timing of the holiday varies year to year. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 8 million people in the U.S. celebrate the Lunar New Year. This Lunar New Year marks the start of the Year of the Rabbit per the Chinese zodiac tradition and the Year of the Cat per the Vietnamese calendar. About the Wing Luke MuseumThe Wing Luke Museum is an art and history museum in Seattle, Washington, United States, which focuses on the culture, art and history of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.
