Each year, the DC Francophonie Festival offers a variety of events related to the Francophonie. The Embassy of France and the Maison Française are hosting a series of 4 movies focusing on youth. We are proud to offer a free screening of the Luxembourgish movie "Sawah". This film is the second of Adolf El Assal, running his own production and distribution company, and offer a Luxembourg-Belgium-Egypt co-production. Movie in French, Luxembourgish, English, Arabic with English subtitles. On his way to a global competition, a talented DJ gets stranded in an unfamiliar country and detained after a case of mistaken identity. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director Adolf El Assal. Born in Alexandria (Egypt), Ady has spend most of his childhood between the UAE, Uk and Luxembourg. In 2008, his first feature film as a producer, DIVIZIONZ was selected at the Berlin International Film Festival and was selected at over 100 festivals and sold in more than 30 territories. In 2010, he directed the award-winning short film LA FAMEUSE ROUTE... and MANO DE DIOS. Ady is a Berlinale Talents as well as an EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneur) alumni. In 2014, he completed his first feature directorial effort LES GARS, that he produced, directed and successfully distributed in French-speaking countries. SECURITY NOTICE : each person attending the event must have a ticket registered in ther name and a government-issued ID that matches the name on the reservation in order to enter the Embassy. No need to print your ticket, but no one will be admitted without reservation and proper ID. Due to strict security measures, please arrive on time, doors will beclosed at 7 p.M sharp. Please allow extra time for security screening.
