Resource Nurse/Frontline Leader Workshop Series: Systems Thinking for All LeadersIMPORTANT: Sessions A and B must be completed to satisfy the knowledge requirements of the new Resource Nurse competency. DESCRIPTIONThis workshop provides foundational understanding of leadership through lecture, small group discussion, and personal inventories to identify and define one's own leadership style and practices. A game simulation will introduce/reinforce the learner's understanding of systems theory and the real-life application of systems thinking in the frontline leader role. OBJECTIVESAt the conclusion, participants should be able to: Differentiate between leadership and management.Identify characteristics of effective leaders.Describe strategies to effectively lead and motivate others.Identify key leadership responsibilities.Demonstrate problem-solving techniques using a systems-thinking approach. Demonstrate effective communication. Facilitate an optimal patient experience.Value communication as a crucial aspect of error prevention and provision of quality patient and family-centered care.CONTINUING EDUCATIONThis continuing education (CE) course is offered through Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford by the Center for Professional Excellence and Inquiry (CPEI). Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), Provider Number 9713. Center for Professional Excellence and Inquiry is accredited as provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). Number of BRN Contact Hours: 3.0 Number of ANCC Contact Hours: 3.0 REGISTRATION and FEESThis training is exclusively offered to Stanford Medicine Children's Health employees. Transfer of Funds are no longer accepted. Employees seeking reimbursement for educational expenses must obtain their manager's approval through AccessHR. A medical note from the participant is required for consideration of a partial refund or transfer to another class in the event of illness or medical emergencies.NO SHOWS or cancellations on the day of class are considered unexcused absences.
