Join CHARLES HATFIELD, curator of the spectacular “Comic Book Apocalypse: The Graphic World of Jack Kirby” show at CSUN Galleries, to explore the dynamic growth of comics and cartoon exhibitions in prestigious art museums, both locally and internationally.
Charles is a Professor of English at California State University, Northridge specializing in comics, popular culture, media studies, and children’s literature. His perennial course, Comics and Graphic Novels, is one of the most popular electives at CSUN, and draws students in diverse majors from across campus. His first of several books, Alternative Comics: An Emerging Literature, is widely recognized as a landmark study. In 2015, Charles curated for CSUN Art Galleries the exhibition Comic Book Apocalypse, one of the largest exhibitions ever of Jack Kirby’s original art.
