The Dayton Chapter of the Federal Bar Association presents its annual "State of the Court" event regarding the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. The event is taking place on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the historic courtroom within the U.S. Bankruptcy Court located at 120 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45402. The program includes presentations by federal judges, and it has been approved for 1.0 general hours of CLE credit by the Ohio Supreme Court. Immediately following the program, attendees will be able to attend a luncheon at the courthouse, with boxed lunches/salads catered by Dorothy Lane Market. Program materials will include identification of federal rules that were amended or added in 2022 and those that are slated to be amended or added in 2023. Marbley Summary: Chief Judge Marbley will reflect on relevant events that took place at the District Court in 2022 and discuss what is expected in 2023. 11:15 - 11:30 Dayton Seat of Court Update Presenters: District Judge Michael J. Newman Summary: Judge Newman will explain rule changes, reflect on relevant events that took place at the Dayton seat of court in 2022, and discuss expectations for 2023. 11:30 - 11:45 Dayton Magistrate Judge Update Presenters: Magistrate Judges Peter B. Silvain, Jr. and Caroline H. Gentry Summary: Judge Silvain and Judge Gentry will discuss their court practices and procedures as relatively new magistrate judges. 11:45 - 12:00 Dayton Bankruptcy Court Update Presenters: Bankruptcy Judge Guy R. Humphrey Summary: Judge Humphrey will reflect on relevant events that took place at the Bankruptcy Court in Dayton in 2022 and discuss what is expected in 2023. 12:00 – 12:15 Question and Answer Session Presenters: Chief Judge Algenon L.
