Description

Ayurveda is an ancient system of holistic healing that originated in Ayurveda over 5,000 years ago. Ayurveda translates as the “science of life” and is one of the sister sciences of yoga. In this class Cathy will give a brief introduction to the fundamentals of Ayurveda and how incorporating seasonal cleanses can have a profound healing effect on our bodies. You will learn the basics of a seasonal cleanse and how it helps to both purify and rejuvenate the body. Cathy will guide class participants on how to make kitchari, a staple food consisting of mung beans and rice that is traditionally consumed during an Ayurvedic cleanse. Cathy Antoniewicz has worked in the kitchen at HWFC for over 10 years. She is a graduate from the Joyful Belly School of Ayurveda and offers workshops, cooking classes and one on one health consultations as a certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor. She is continuing to further her education as a clinical herbalist and Level II Ayurvedic Medicine to work with more advanced pathologies and integrate herbal medicine into her practice. Her specialty lies in helping people recover from burnout and related digestive and nervous system imbalances.
