Gillian Branstetter (She/Her) | Communications Strategist at the American Civil Liberties Union Gillian Branstetter is a Communications Strategist at the ACLU’s Women’s Rights Project and LGBTQ & HIV Project. Formerly of the National Women’s Law Center and the National Center for Transgender Equality, she works with advocates, storytellers, reporters, and artists to fight for gender justice, including the safety and dignity of queer and transgender people. She is an experienced spokesperson and media strategist featured in national and local media outlets including CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, Washington Post, as well as a writer and reporter with work in The Atlantic, Newsweek, Out Magazine, and Thomson-Reuters. (Source) DEI is an abbreviation that stands for diversity, equity, and inclusion and contains important information for those wanting to work with people different than themselves. This training will be geared towards media, reporters, and journalists who wish to cover transgender issues and be respectful of their fellow human beings. After April 1, 2023, the Transgender Equality Network will no longer accept interview requests from reporters who have not attended this training and signed a pledge agreeing to represent transgender communities with dignity and respect. If you are able and would like to help the Transgender Equality Network continue the work in our community, please help us offset the costs of this event by donating at least the suggested amount: Suggested Donation for organizations and professionals is $120/person. Suggested Donation for Students is $60/person. Additionally, you may sponsor another attendee who needs a scholarship by donating increasing your donation by +$90/professional or +$40/student. The training session will be at The Jones Center in Springdale, Arkansas, from 11 AM to 1 PM. An optional lunch can be provided for $15/person, but is not required. Details will soon follow.
