Early Indicators of Later Literacy Learning and the Impact of Early Intervention Presented by Dr. Lucy Hart Paulson, Ed.D., CCC-SLPApril 15, 2023The University of Portland, Bauccio Commons8:00 am-3:30 pm Pacific Time (Breakfast and Lunch included)About Dr. Lucy Hart Paulson: Dr. Lucy Hart Paulson, Ed.D., CCC-SLP, is an author and literacy specialist with a mission of bringing research to practice. She is also a speech-language pathologist with many years of experience working with educators and with young children and their families in a wide range of educational settings. In addition, Lucy was an associate professor teaching and conducting research in the areas of language and literacy development and disorders. She provides professional development using a broad-based perspective blending areas of language and literacy together resulting in effective, appropriate, and engaging language-based literacy instruction and intervention for all children. Finally, Lucy is the co-author of the Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) for Early Childhood Educators, 2nd Edition, Building Early Literacy and Language Skills, a resource and activity guide for young children, and also for Good Talking Words, 2nd Edition, a social communication skills program for young children. Scholarships are available! Applications can be found here, and are due by March 24, 2023. Applicants will be notified prior to the early bird deadline so that they may take advantage of this savings if they are not a recipient of a scholarship.All attendee will earn six Professional Development Units.Information in this session is aligned to IDA's Knowledge and Practice Standards 1- 5. Attendees will earn 6 KPS-Aligned PD Hours for maintaining their CEUs for The Center for Effective Reading Instruction. CERI requires educators to complete 10 clock hours of continuing education or 1.0 CEU's annually to support certification renewal. This Symposium has been approved by the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology for 6 hours of professional development . #22-23-029.
