This workshop is an introduction to sourdough. If you would like to start your own “mother” or if the thought of a feeding schedule overwhelms you, let us help! We’ll go over all the basics, and more, while we mix a starter for everyone to take home. We will discuss feeding schedules, the use of different flours, various sourdough recipes, what to do with the “discard,” sourdough troubleshooting, and when to know it's expired. Plus, we will make batches of sourdough crackers to try with cheese and light snacks. All materials are included. Adult workshop participants are welcome to BYO wine or refreshment of choice. See you there! *BYOB Policy: The Carriage House is a BYOB establishment. Guests age 21+ may bring and responsibly drink alcohol at The Carriage House, but our staff cannot open or serve any type of alcohol for guests. Please bring personal wine or bottle openers. We encourage you to purchase wine from local businesses, including Flaura Flowers & Wine, Oyster River Winegrowers, and Warren Wine Shop. Location and Parking: The Uproot Kitchen and Carriage House are located at 9 Green St. in Thomaston. Parking is limited and we ask guests to please use the free public parking located behind the Thomaston Grocer and Flipside Cafe across Main Street. The Carriage House is just a short stroll down the block from there. Handicap parking is available at the Carriage House if needed.
