The Locrian Consort is an instrumental ensemble which performs music of the Renaissance and Medieval periods on period instruments and is one of the very few ''Bands of Musicke" that does so in the United States. The Consort was formed in 1972 by a group of backward-looking Old Dominion University students. Since then it has played a wide variety of music from the earliest days of musical history on up through the Baroque period of the Eighteenth Century. This is the time most musicians and scholars consider to be the era of "Early Music." The Consort brings expert performance skills...and much lighthearted wit..to its programs played on a wide variety of hand-made instruments, replicated with great historical accuracy. Graif Foundation board member, Dru Stowe leads the Consort, which will offer a program sprinkled with music of the Season in the very live acoustic environment of the Graif residence. This concert is not to be missed.
