Universal Technical Institute (UTI) will be hosting a SCOUTS BSA MERIT BADGE FAIR on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 8:00am - 4:00pm located at our Houston, TX campus.  Under the supervision of Merit Badge Counselors, our UTI and MIAT licensed Technical Instructors will be conducting classroom and hands-on lab instruction for scouts to earn a merit badge.  Classes offered are as follows: Automotive, Electronics, Welding, Truck Transport, Electricity, Aviation, Energy, Digital Technology and Composite Materials . Each class is 6+ hours in length to meet badge requirements, therefore scouts will only be able to participate in one class. NOTE: The Welding Merit Badge class has a minimum age requirement of 13 years old and would be most suited to your High Adventure Scout. Please be aware of this when purchasing your ticket(s). Buy your ticket TODAY to reserve your spot as seats are limited within each class!   DROP OFF & SIGN-IN for the day begins at 8AM in our Paige Auditorium at 720 Lockhaven Dr. Opening Ceremony will begin at 8:30 and then scouts will be dismissed to respective classrooms. Parents should PICK UP their scouts at 4:00pm at the Paige Auditorium. Dress Code: Troop Activity Shirts are recommended. For safety reasons, LEGS MUST BE COVERED, so jeans or other long pants are REQUIRED.  Absolutely NO open-toed shoes or sandals. Tennis shoes are acceptable. Bring light work gloves and safety goggles if you have them, otherwise some will be provided. Boxed lunch will be provided (sandwich, chips and drink). A vegetarian option will be available, however our vendor will not be able to support specialty food requests. You MUST sign your scout up in advance and have a ticket # to attend. You MUST bring your BLUE CARD from your approving authority or scout master for our sign off. Your scout MUST be appropriately attired or could risk being turned away (Think SAFETY!) All staff and instructors involved have been cleared through the BSA and will have a current YPT certificate on file. PARENTS:  You are welcome to take a tour of our UTI and MIAT campuses.  Tours will begin immediately following opening ceremonies. Wear Comfortable shoes, since our campus labs are spread out over several blocks.
