Our amazing Sommiler, Karen, has chosen 4 “almost spring” wines. 2 representing France and 2 representing Spain. We will start with the French Côté Est white blend. It is a blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Chardonnay, and Rolle 20%. Second pour will be Lafage Miraflors. This rosé is from old vines of Grenache Gris and Noir (50%), some nearing 80 years old, planted near the Mediterranean. Added to this is Mourvèdre (50%).
Moving to Portugal for Esporão Colhita organic white made from Antão Vaz, Viosinho grapes. Complex and intense. We will finish with the Esporão Colhita organic red. A blend of Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Franca grapes. Fresh and balanced.
