The summit features a keynote panel on culinary and agritourism, Ignite! presentations, hands-on workshops, and local food tastings designed to put our relationship-building and food systems skills into practice. Come to learn and network, leave with practice skills for planning, creating policy, and developing partnerships to support our local and regional food systems. Afternoon WorkshopsChoose a workshop: From growing for food banks or hosting on-farm events to evaluating impacts, exploring conservation easements, and developing food action plans, there is something for everyone! Growing for a Food Bank - Fresh From Your Farm or Garden Led by Community Action Center Local food banks and pantries are hungry for fresh, local produce and you can help by growing a row of fresh veggies or fruits at home, in your community garden plot or on your farm to donate. Learn what produce is in demand and ways to harvest and deliver that preserve freshness and flavor and food safety. Selling at Farmers Markets & Planning for On-Farm Events Led by Greentree Naturals and Cultivating Success Are you looking to increase your farm income through farmers market sales and/or by hosting on farm events? Do you love learning from experienced and successful farmers? Then this is the workshop for you! Diane Green has over 30 years' experience direct marketing organic produce grown on her farm outside of Sandpoint. Learn how to draw customers to your market booth and how to plan and manage on-farm events. Learn the Art of Ripple Effects Mapping Led by University of Idaho Extension Ripple Effects Mapping (REM) is a powerful way to understand the impact of your program or organization. More than an evaluation tool, REM engages and energizes staff and community members create a ripple of positive energy for future work. In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to use REM as both an evaluation and a planning tool. Ins & Outs of Conservation Easements Led by Palouse Land Trust Curious about conservation easements and how they can preserve working farms, forest, and open spaces? In this workshop you will learn about considerations and steps for working with the Palouse Land Trust to establish a conservation easement. The workshop will wrap up with a discussion of innovative easement funding mechanisms and how we might increase funding for conservation easements in the Palouse-Clearwater region. Steps for Developing a Local or Regional Food Action Plan Led by Spokane Food Policy Council Come learn about how the Spokane Regional Food Action plan was developed and, ultimately, adopted by the Spokane City Council. You will leave the workshop with a good understanding of the process for developing a regional food action plan and an outline of steps you can take to start similar initiative in your community.
