Description
This two- day “crash course” in protection is designed for the volunteer or ministry employee who is acting as the primary close protection specialist for a faith leader. The primary purpose for this course is to provide the basic concepts of protection planning, managing, and operational execution in low- medium threat environments. Note: Although this course covers protection for faith-based leaders, the concepts can be used in any protection environment. Course Topics Concepts for the solo practitioner in faith-based environments Security management in ministry Equipment considerations Operational planning: basic principles Behavior detection and attack prevention De-escalation and conflict management The layered approach for the solo protector Medical response protocols Covert carry: handgun and intermediate weapons deployment in faith-based environments Instructor Michael Mann, CPP®, PSP® has 30+ years’ experience in physical security, law enforcement, executive protection, and corporate security. Michael’s experience in executive protection began during his service with the United States Marine Corps Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST), protecting High Risk Personnel (HRP), foreign military leaders, and providing Counter Assault Team (CAT) capabilities during protective missions. Michael also provided executive protection for the mayor’s office while employed as a police officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department, and he served as an executive protection manager for a large risk management firm. Michael has been both a regional security manager and physical security director, and he currently provides security consulting services for faith-based organizations, corporations, and security firms. Michael has Master of Science (MS) Degree in Security Management; a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence, University of St. Andrews and he studied terrorism at Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel. Michael is an educator and serves as an adjunct instructor for a large university assigned to teach courses in criminal justice, homeland security and counterterrorism. Michael is also a graduate of several prestigious close protection schools and training programs including Executive Security International (ESI), RL Oatman and Associates, The Executive Protection Institute (EPI), and Toni Scotti’s Vehicle Dynamics Institute (VDI).
