Description

You are invited to a special evening with Barbara Kingsolver on Saturday, March 11, at 7:30 pm (doors at 7:15) in downtown Asheville, NC. Barbara is an avid knitter, and often works knitting into her novels. She will be reading some of her favorite knitting passages, a true “fiber-artist greatest hits”! In addition, Barbara has co-authored her first knitting pattern with Knitrino themed around her book The Lacuna, and every ticket comes with a code to get the pattern at no cost.* The pattern is being launched as a mystery knit along, and you'll receive additional information once it is available. This event is 21 and up. A cash bar will be available. Please note there will not be a book signing at this event. About the Author Barbara Kingsolver is a world-renowned author, having written numerous novels and essays. Her most recent novel, Demon Copperhead (2022), has received wide acclaim and was an instant New York Times best seller and was included in the New York Times "TEN BEST BOOKS OF 2022". Among her many accomplishments, Barbara is also a knitter. Her loyal readers may have caught on to this fact as the craft threads it’s way through several of her novels: The Lacuna, Flight Behavior, and Unsheltered all have characters who knit. Our special evening with Barbara will feature passages from these books and more! The wonderful people from Malaprop’s bookstore will be on site with a selection of these titles if you need to add them to your bookshelf. Read more about Barbara and her work here. What’s Knitrino? Knitrino offers curated projects that include new patterns in Knitrino’s friendly format and all the supplies you’ll need to go from cast on to bind off effortlessly, plus badges for each new skill. Take the tour: you can create a project and see charts in your colors, click a stitch to see how to do it, track your progress row by row and never lose your place. Founded by knitting sisters Andrea & Alison, Knitrino is crafted on the sense of family and community central to the fiber arts. Knitrino is a place for people to share their knowledge, connect and feel part of a wider group of makers with at least one thing in common: a passion for knitting. It’s Knitrino’s goal to make it easy for people to return to making, support small farms, reconnect with their roots and feel present in this world we live in. We invite you to grow into the knitter you aspire to be with Knitrino. *The pattern, Lacuna Mitts, is being launched as a Mystery Knit Along, where the pattern is revealed in pieces. To get your knitting pattern, install Knitrino from either app store. There is no PDF or printable version of the pattern available. Once the pattern has launched, you will receive an email with more information about obtaining it, and this information will also be available at the event. Questions?
