ABSTRACT:This presentation will review the diagnostic criteria for Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) and explain the characteristics of the three sub-types of ARFID and offer detailed interventions for clinicians working with this population. In addition, we will discuss how the traditional eating disorder treatment model can be ineffective for clients with ARFID and how clinicians can shift their approach to treat clients most successfully. LEARNING OBJECTIVES:Following this presentation, participants will be able to identify sub types of ARFID. Following this presentation, participants will be able to explain different interventions for various ARFID presentations. Following this presentation, participants will be able to utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to integrate more foods into their clients’ diets.
