Description

Event Itinerary10:00 am: We will all meet at the Delaware Picnic Shelter in Fort Harrison State Park and spend some time mingling and getting to know one another. 10:15 - 11:45 am: Your half-day experience will begin with a 1-hour outdoor yoga class. This will be a calming, centering yoga flow for all levels that will focus on gentle movements and stretches to wake up the body and get your blood flowing. Directly following your yoga class, you will be led through a 20-minute guided meditation to set a positive tone for the rest of the day. Coming out of your yoga and meditation, you will be left feeling calm yet energized. 11:45 am - 12:45 pm: As a group, we'll take a 2-mile moderate hike along the beautiful, wooded Fall Creek Trail. Soak up the spring sunshine while enjoying good conversation and beautiful views of full, green trees, flowing creeks, and blooming flowers. 12:45 pm - 2:00 pm: Upon returning from your hike, the picnic table will be set and the food will be served. This will be a buffet-style, plant-based brunch featuring all local organic ingredients. We will end our day in fellowship as we nourish our bodies. Q & AQ: What should I wear? A: Since this event is in early May, the temperature could range anywhere from the mid-60's up to 80 degrees. Wear clothing that you will feel comfortable doing yoga and hiking in; such as yoga leggings, athletic shorts, a t-shirt, or a tank top. You can do the yoga class either barefoot or in socks, but be sure bring atheletic shoes or boots that you can hike in. Q: What should I bring? A: Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one (we will have a few extra mats if you need to borrow one). Q: How much does it cost to get into Fort Harrison State Park? A: Without a state parks pass, it is $7.00 per vehicle to enter the park. If you are attending this event with a friend, we would encourage you to carpool so you only have to pay one fee to get in! Q: How will parking work once I get into the park? A: There are ample parking spaces right in front of our picnic shelter. Q: How will I know how to find where to go once I get into the park? A: Ask the park attendant for instructions, and grab a free map on your way in. Once you enter, there are plenty of signs pointing you towards the Delaware Shelter. You can also text Taylor or Naomi for help if needed. Here is a PDF map of Fort Harrison State Park: https://www.in.gov/dnr/state-parks/files/ftharrison_trail.pdf Q: Can I come even if I don't have any experience with yoga? A: Absolutely! The yoga class will be a slow, gentle flow catered to all levels. Q: Are there restrooms nearby? A: Yes, there are restrooms directly across from our picnic shelter. You're welcome to go anytime, but we will offer a restroom break after the yoga class before the group hike. Q: Who is hosting this event? A: This event is hosted by Taylor Baker and Naomi Murtagh. We went through our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training together at Flourish Yoga + Wellbeing and became good friends in the process! We hosted a similar event in Oct. 2022 and it was a wonderful time. After that event, we realized that we want to host events like this on a regular basis to provide opportunities for people to connect with others and spend time in nature, while moving and nourishing their bodies. Check out some photos from our last retreat!
