Aly EL Hadj M'Baye is a native of Dakar, Senegal, West Africa. His knowledge of African rhythms and drumming started at the age of 5, where every member of his family played several different instruments. He was blessed to grow up in a family of Griots, a West African historian, storyteller, poet and/or musician. In the last 30 years he became a knowledgeable teacher of many rhythms, dances, and songs from Mali, Guinea, and Senegal, as well as in the U.S and internationally. This knowledge allowed him to grow as a spirited and vibrant Master Percussionist of the Djembe, Doundoun, Sangban, Kenkeni, Kutero, Conga and Sabar, in addition to many other instruments. He also has become a multi-talented teacher, artist, composer, choreographer and band leader throughout the U.S. and the rest of the world.
