Women in Food & Wine: Reception, Film Screening, Q&A Sunday, March 19 / 2:30 p.m. In celebration of Women's History Month, we invite you to meet the women chefs and winemakers who are redefining the culinary landscape. Join us for an intimate walk-around tasting reception, film screening, and Q&A hosted by CIA friend Chef Tanya Holland, featuring special guests Chef Elizabeth Falkner (Top Chef alum, Bay Area restaurateur, and filmmaker) and Jennifer Reichardt (fifth-generation Sonoma County duck farmer and owner/winemaker at Raft Wines). More guests to be announced. The afternoon begins with a screening of Chef Elizabeth Falkner's newest film Sorry, We're Closed, portraying how the independent restaurant industry deals with crisis and how food systems must evolve. Following the film, you'll have a chance to chat with the chefs and special guests during a Q&A. Then, you'll head up to the Hestan Kitchen for a walk-around tasting experience featuring signature dishes from each chef. Ticket is all-inclusive of screening, Q&A, food, wine/beer. *** At the CIA, more than 90 percent of our students receive scholarships and other forms of financial aid. Your patronage helps support this important priority, ensuring students can realize their dreams of attending the world's premier culinary college. *** About Tanya Holland Known for her inventive take on modern soul food, as well as comfort classics, Tanya Holland founded the famous and beloved Brown Sugar Kitchen restaurant in 2008 in Oakland, California, which received multiple Michelin Bib Gourmand awards. Using organically farmed grapes from across California, she handles every step herself, then leans on family, friends and local venues to get her products out into the world. Reichardt was also quick to get involved with efforts to rebuild after the California wine country fires of 2017 and remains vocal about the past and present challenges that confront women in wine.
