Moore started his sports journalism career in 1978 with the Cincinnati Enquirer. He then worked for the San Francisco Examiner before joining the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, where he spent 25 years as a general sports columnist. During those decades, Moore covered sports events ranging from the Super Bowl and World Series to NBA Championships, major auto racing events, and golf tournaments. His book, The Real Hank Aaron: An Intimate Look at the Life and Legacy of the Home Run King, has won him accolades for providing a “heartfelt portrait” and “a charming and illuminating glimpse at the man outside the spotlight.” The National Association of Black Journalists honored Moore in 1999 for being the longest-running black sports columnist in the history of major newspapers.
