Bomba Marilé invites the greater Salt Lake Community to join us on Saturday March 4th at the Sorenson Unity Center for a day celebrating the cultural significance of drumming. Sponsored by the Utah Division of Arts and Museums, National Endowment for the Arts, and also by the Sorenson Unity Center, the entire event will be free and open to the public. We are honored to have special guest bomba instructors straight from Puerto Rico: Rafael Maya and Sara Cruz Cepeda. 9:30am-10:30am Bomba Percussion Workshop 11am-Noon Bomba Dance Workshop 2:30pm-4:30pm Panel Discussion "Speaking through the Drum" Panelists Include: - Rafael Maya (Bomba) -Sara Christina Cruz Cepeda (Bomba) - Erick Fungo (Afro Beats) - Tanya Reese (Native American Drumming) -Moderator Ma Black (KRCL) 4:30-7pm Live Performances: Sunwater Singers O'Nkosi E Afro Beats Live Band Bomba Marilé with guest artists ** Peoples of Utah Revisited will be there from 2-7pm collecting peoples first hand oral histories and scanning pictures you chose to share with them to discuss how we have become part of creating the matrix of our communities in Utah.
