A fun and informative talk for anyone who delights in roadside plant life. Many of the plants that grow in open and sunny roadside habitats are native to Kansas and have interesting histories as edible and medicinal plants. Kelly Kindscher, author of Edible Wild Plants of the Prairie, will speak about how regional Native American tribes used native prairie plants for food and medicine, and how they can be used today. This evening will include plenty of wildflower eye candy and great stories about milkweeds, edible roots, and plant medicines.
