Join us at Kaaterskill Market for an evening of knitting! Hudson-based fiber artist, Lizz Hill Wiker will lead a beginner’s knitting workshop and will teach you everything you need to know to make your own lightweight scarf, bandanna or dishtowel.
During the class, students will learn the basics of knitting including, casting on, the knit stitch and binding off. Lizz will also provide an overview of how to select yarns and needles and will get you familiar with common knitting tools and reading patterns.
No prior experience is required.
MATERIALS
In addition to the registrations fee, there will be a selection of materials kits including yarn and knitting needles available for purchase at the workshop. Natural yarns in various colors will be available, starting at $15 per kit.
If you would like to bring your own materials, you will need yarn in Worsted or Aran weight and will need at least 140 yards to complete your project. You will also need knitting needles in size US 9 (5.5mm) or US 10 (6mm) and its recommended that you get circular needles with at least 24” cable length. Lizz will have extra needles available for purchase as well.
ATTENDANCE & CANCELATION POLICY
The workshop will be capped at 6 people and will require 3 people to sign up to hold the workshop. Cancellations are allowed up to 48 hours before the workshop, and a full refund will be issued. There are no refunds within 48 hours of the workshop but you may transfer your registrations to someone else at anytime prior to the workshop by emailing [email protected].
