Across 21 countries, TerraCycle is on a mission to rethink waste and develop practical solutions for today’s complex waste challenges. The company engages an expansive multi-stakeholder community across a wide range of accessible programs, from Fortune 500 companies to schools and individuals. In 2019, TerraCycle launched Loop, a circular reuse platform that enables consumers to purchase products in durable, reusable packaging. Since its debut, Loop has developed into the leading global reuse platform and is available in France, Japan and the U.S. Loop is a key step in helping to end the epidemic of waste that is caused by 'single-use' consumption. Tom and TerraCycle have received hundreds of social, environmental and business awards and recognition from a range of organizations including the United Nations, World Economic Forum, Fortune Magazine, Time Magazine and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Tom is the author of four books, Revolution in a Bottle, Outsmart Waste, Make Garbage Great and The Future of Packaging. Tom created, produced and starred in TerraCycle’s reality show, “Human Resources” which aired on Pivot from 2014-2016 and is syndicated in more than 20 foreign markets on Amazon and iTunes. Good Business Panel with Winnie Karanja and Dr. Serenity Wright - Presented by Confluent Health Winnie Karanja is CEO & Founder of Represented Collective. Represented Collective focuses on advancing gender and racial equity in the STEM fields through products, workplace curriculum and curating events. With deep roots in workforce development, education, and entrepreneurship, she is transforming STEM workplace and educational environments, enhancing access, opportunities, and belonging for women and BIPoC. Winnie has a Masters of Science in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Winnie’s achievements have earned the accolades of Forbes who named her among the “World’s Brightest Young Leaders” for Racial Justice & Inequality in 2020 and a “30 under 30 Social Entrepreneur.” She is shifting paradigms at every level – from institutions to individual mindsets. She is a force, a disrupter, an educator.Dr. Serenity Wright serves as the inaugural leader for the Social Innovation unit within UK Innovate at the University of Kentucky. After completing a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Wright taught and served as an academic and behavior interventionist in a public school system for many years. Dr. Wright then earned her doctorate from the University of Kentucky in Policy, Measurement and Evaluation. Dr. Wright employs a hard science approach through a lens of cultural competency for her theoretical orientation. She is passionate about advocating for, and the expansion of, equitable access for resources and opportunities. She has partnered to serve and support several organizations across the state, and nationally, in their work to expand and sustain their impact to their constituents.
