Description

Can someone forgive even the most unforgivable crimes? Join Dr. Elaine Leeder as she gives us an in-depth look into her work facilitating conversations between perpetrators and their victims and families. Dr. Leeder will explore how the intersection of her experience working with Jewish prisoners and her own Jewish values came to inform and influence her restorative justice work. She will share how Jewish spirituality influences and impacts those incarcerated and their self-development. Join us for this inspiring and touching presentation, just in time for the holiday of Passover where we celebrate freedom, to hear about these profound real-life stories of forgiveness and freedom. For the last twenty-eight years, Dr. Elaine Leeder has been working in prisons, first at Elmira Correctional Facility, then San Quentin, and now in prisons all over the state of California. Her teaching, then running self-help groups and now doing Victim/Offender Dialogues, has shown her that there is redemption, remorse and contrition behind the walls.
