Updated class schedule:February 9th, 16th, 23rdWeek offMarch 9th -------------------------------------------------- Come and learn Kizomba (Pronounced:KEY-ZOM-BA) and Semba! Kizomba and Semba are both music and dances that originated from Angola Africa. Similar music and dance can be found in other Portuguese Speaking African Countries (PALOPs) i.e. Cape Verde & Mozambique. Let us introduce you to the music, dance & culture of Angola and the other PALOP countries where Kizomba is King! No partner is required so feel free to come on your own or bring a partner...your choice. Classes are $15 each The series is $50 before the first lesson. Maybe it's a cliché for a teacher to say this but I love to teach. The moments when I can see that my efforts are helping a student's skill and passion for dance are so incredibly fulfilling! Each Thursday this February please join me for some highly educational and entertaining Kizomba and Semba Classes! February 2nd Class Update Due to the severe weather making travel dangerous, I will have to cancel today's class. I was hopeful the conditions would improve to do today's class, but even if we all drive with caution the weather has also impacted the studio staff so they can't guarantee the studio will be ready for us. That's the bad news, good news the weather looks to be much better next week so we can start the series then. I have arranged for a makeup day on March 9th so the full series will still happen. For those that have already purchased tickets, first of all, thank you! As a bonus to you, I will be sending a brief video tonight explaining some of the steps we will do in the first class. Of course, this can't replace a full class but it will give you a head start on the steps so we can do more interesting things, like learn how to add flavor to the steps, and when to do them with the music! Stay warm everybody and see you next week! Dancing in general, and Kizomba dancing specifically has made my life better! The dishes are less of a chore while dancing, and the music helps in lighten my spirit in tough times and elevates it even more when things are going well! Some problems can't be fixed by music and dances that is for sure. If your problem doesn't require a doctor, lawyer, or therapist, give Kizomba a try, it might be just what you need! Half the class left before I remembered to grab a group picture, thankfully these beautiful ladies had a minute before they left too! First class was alot of fun! Instead of having the video to practice after the class is over, why not have it before? At least a couple of days before each class, those who have prepaid for the class will get a preview video. Each week I will pick a step or two that can be conveyed via video, and email a private link. This will allow the class to be less about where to put your feet and more about musicality, leading and following skills, and smooth flavorful Ginga!
