About your speakersAsif Kapadia Academy and BAFTA Award winning film director, writer and producer, and RCA alumni Asif is an Academy Award, BAFTA, Grierson and Grammy Award winning film director, writer and producer and one of the most influential filmmakers of our generation. Best known for his acclaimed trilogy of films AMY, SENNA and DIEGO MARADONA on child geniuses and the price of fame, these groundbreaking films work dramatically like fiction films but are constructed entirely from archive footage. In 2001 Kapadia made his epic debut fiction feature THE WARRIOR starring the late great Irrfan Khan and shot in India. The film won Outstanding British Film of the Year and Special Achievement by a Director, as well as being nominated for a BAFTA. Between the features and TV work Kapadia continues to direct short films and commercials, including work for a number of high profile brands and talent including the multi award winning The Tale of Thomas Burberry for Fashion Brand Burberry starring Domhnall Gleeson, Lily James, Dominic West and Sienna Miller. Julio Obscura Recent RCA Graduate now Creative Director at the Environmental Protection Agency Julio is a Mexican-American Fronterizo artist based in Washington, D.C. His work explores and documents the complex weaving of identity, immigration, climate change, politics and cultural heritage. Obscura’s multidisciplinary practice is research-led and uses both established and emergent creative techniques for story driven design. He is a Royal Society of Arts fellow, the first and former Fulbright Scholar at Royal College of Art in London where he received an MA, and also holds an BA from Texas A&M International University. Obscura has previously held various creative roles in national politics and Government. Previous roles include that of Creative Director for the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, Deputy Digital Director/Filmmaker for Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign, Digital post-production for PBS and Digital for President Obama (White House term). Rupert Daniels Director of Services and Skills, Department for Business and Trade As Director of Services and Skills, Rupert is responsible for helping UK organisations grow globally by developing their export capabilities and attracting inward investment. His portfolio covers diverse sectors including Digital Commerce, Creative Industries, Education, Consumer and Luxury Goods, Financial, Professional and Business Services, and Sport. In Government, Rupert delivered the 2021 Trade and Agriculture Commission to Parliament and is the Chair of Trade Advisory Groups (TAG’s) in Creative Industries and Consumer Goods & Retail, and co-chairs the Sports Advisory Group. Within DBT, he is responsible for cross-cutting campaigns and events and acts as the SRO for International Trade Week. Rupert joined the Civil Service just over 2 years ago from Cambridge University Press where he spent 7 years building their global, digital brand as the Global Marketing Board Director. Rupert joined Cambridge University Press from Arsenal Football Club, where he was the global Partnerships director. Prior to this he was a founder in a start-up digital and mobile marketing agency and worked in Switzerland for 8 years with FIFA; running websites, sponsorship, film, television, and music operations for three world cups, Ballon d’or and many other related sporting events. He has over 20 years of global experience across, sales, marketing, media, digital, data and branding. Finally, Rupert started his career as a lecturer in sport science at Cambridge Regional College and Anglia Ruskin University and holds an MBA from the University of Liverpool Jack Hardiker RCA Tutor and Creative Director at Office of Everyone Jack Hardiker is an interdisciplinary artist, creative director and researcher. Through his studio ‘Office of Everyone’, Jack works with both established and emergent creative techniques to tell urgent and unexpected stories. Jack’s work has received considerable funding, as well as recognition from bodies such as the Media Architecture Biennale and the Lumen Prize. Jack explores the use of ubiquitous technologies as collaborative tools for overcoming traditional barriers to accessing the arts. Richard Twyman Artistic Director at English Touring Theatre Richard Twyman is the Artistic Director & CEO of English Touring Theatre. Prior to ETT he was Associate Director (International) at the Royal Court. As a director and dramaturg he has made work for theatres all over the UK and Internationally including; Japan, China, India, UAE and US. Camille Baker RCA Tutor and interdisciplinary artist Camille is an interdisciplinary digital artist, curator and researcher in immersive experiences, participatory performance, VR design, interactive art, SmartFashion and e-textiles, emerging technologies, and digital art curating – across creative disciplines.Camille has taught in digital and interactive arts and design since 2002 in Canada, then in the UK from 2007.
