The Flathead Rain Garden Initiative will host a rain garden workshop on Wednesday, May 17th from 5:30 to 7 PM at the Center for Native Plants in Whitefish, Montana. The workshop will provide participants with an introduction to raingardens: what they are, why they’re helpful, and how to design and build your own. The evening will include a tour of the Center for Native Plants’ nursery for participants to learn about native plants in our region for rain garden use. Attendees will also learn how these plants help support pollinators and wildlife, reduce watering needs, and provide other benefits. The workshop will provide information on resources available to landowners in Flathead County for this program and other conservation practices. Participants will have workshop time to start working on their own designs, and everyone will receive a complementary rain garden plant to bring home. The event is hosted by the Flathead Rain Garden Initiative partners including the Center for Native Plants, the Flathead Basin Commission, the City of Kalispell, and the Flathead Conservation District.
