BIMA welcomes storytellers and historians from the Suquamish Nation as they relate tales of Bainbridge Island from pre-colonial times to the modern day, reclaiming firmly within the tribe's historical cultural context. Our Untold Stories series focuses on regional Native voices. Voices From the Salish Sea raises important questions about Native sovereignty, activism, cultural preservation, treaty rights, and cultural values. As a whole, this series can be seen as a dialogue between regional Native American communities and their non-Native neighbors, with the hope of expanding connections, cultivating culturaly informed allyship, and centering the stories of this region's First Peoples.
