A Conversation with author, Dick Lechthaler
Just Compensation is the story of the Vermont farmer who refused to leave his land when Interstate 91 was being built in the mid-1960s. Can a government ever truly compensate someone for the loss of his property, his livelihood, his place in the world?
The novel explores the question of progress as it recreates a story of a vanishing Vermont, one in which families face change and difficulty as their small corner of the world is torn apart in the name of progress.
Our discussion will explore that period of changeā¦a change that tried to launch Vermont into the future.
Dick Lechthaler has lived in Weston since 1968.
