Come Rove (get away) on the "Near-Shore!" Join us for a day exploring the Sassafras River by bus as we learn the ropes of committed field photography with Baltimore's own Mike Keller Photography. We call this a "mini-expedition" because its not just for photographers, but anyone who wants to greet Spring in style by getting out into the corners of one of the Chesapeake Bay's most undiscovered, hidden natural areas. The timming of this excursion is designed to bring you together with the sunset as you look out over the open waters of the Chesapeake. The sunset is at 7:22pm on this day, and we will be exploring a hiden gem not too many peole know about during the "magic hour" before sunset. We will leave Havre de Grace, MD (which is convient from anywhere!) and travel to the historic Kitty Knight House and its grand overlook of Sassafras Harbor. From there we will travel to multiple locations along the course of the river, ending at a view of the sunset over the Chesapeake Bay. With special guest speakers and stops at local interests, you will experience cultural and natural sights you have never lived before. Lunch will be provided by Deep Blue at the Kitty Knight House, a historic and cultural icon serving the Eastern Shore and Delmarva for generations. In the event of inclement weather the excursion will be rebooked for a later date. All those wishing to get the most out of the photography instruction, a tripod is recommended along with your normal kit and camera bag. Photographic instruction is optional, for anyone wishing to treat this as strictly a tour, there will be much for you to see and expeirence at every stop we make, so don't worry about being into photography!
