Description

The Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE) is an in-person experience that expands our understanding of "poverty" to include lack of physical, emotional, or relationship flourishing, in addition to lack of financial resources. COPE is an immersive simulation that gives participants a glimpse into the lives of individuals and families who face these various challenges every day - and the schools, employers, churches, and other community organizations who interact with them. No matter what your personal experience has been, you will see life through new eyes. Churches and businesses use COPE for member, employee, and community engagement. Public schools, community colleges, nursing schools, nonprofits, and government entities use COPE for professional development. 82% of participants experience a change in thinking and 98% want to do something new as a result. You can expect to walk away with: A deeper understanding of holistic flourishing and the desire to see people as whole and complex. More empathy, less judgement. New excitement to care for those around you. A shared experience, new language, and great conversation that will allow us to learn from one another and better serve together so that everyone has a chance to flourish.
