Description
A free, open event hosted by SHPE Twin Cities and partners with hands-on STEM activities and opportunities to learn more about STEM careers. All family members are welcomed to join! This event focuses on promoting knowledge, awareness, and motivation for students to pursue a career in STEM fields. We are very excited to collaborate with the SHPE student chapters at the University of Minnesota and University of St Thomas, Girls Dream Code, National Society of Black Engineers Twin Cities (NSBE), Society of Women Engineers Minnesota (SWE), Medtronic, and Westwood Professional Services. Lunch will be provided as well as parking validation tickets and/or free public transit passes. For questions email Yesenia and Aldo at [email protected]. There will be four workshops rotating every 30-35min so students can attend all. 1. Renewable Energy Workshop by Westwood Professional Services: Students will have the chance to build their own solar modules and learn how sunlight is converted to energy to power the world around us! 2. Coding Workshop by Girls Dream Code: Create a fun 2D chatbot using a visual block based programming language! 3. Robotics Workshop by Minnesota STEM Partnership (MSP) and NSBE TCPC: The Minnesota STEM Partnership has a variety of programs ranging from robotics to drone racing to eSports gaming! They are also the hub for the first NSBE Jr. chapter for the Twin Cities. This workshop will focus on sharing FIRST Robotics information and will have a robot from a previous robotics season to demonstrate. 4. Medical Devices Workshop by Medtronic: Students will get the opportunity to learn about the different products Medtronic has engineered and how they are used to help different patients. The technology presented will include Pacemakers, Defibrillators, STENTs, Cardiac Monitors, among others. * All minors attending this event must be with parent or adult caregiver, or as part of a group with teachers/chaperones. * By attending this event you agree to have your photo or video or your child's photo or video taken and published by SHPE-TC.
