Join us at Philly Typewriter as we celebrate the return of an event that got it's start right here in Philadelphia, The Type-In! For those who don't know, a Type-In is a convention for typewriter enthusiasts, typists, mechanics, collectors, anyone and everyone who loves the mechanical marvel that is the typewriter! We are proud to start the first of what will be ongoing, seasonal type-ins at the shop and around the city, and these events will have a lot going on! Come bring your favorite machine, or many of your favorites! Events throughout the day will include but are not limited to..... Beauty Contest - Have a machine in your collection that you believe is the jewel of all typewriters? Bring it in and find out! We'll be taking votes throughout the day to see who's will win! Manual Typing Speed Competition - From the double keyboard of the Smith Primer to the lightning speed of the Hermes 3000, bring your fastest fingers and see who will come out on top! Philly Soapbox - The Soapbox is a nonprofit community print shop, book and zine making center, and library of 3,500 rare handmade publications. They will be setting up at the type-in with a mimeograph and a table top letter press for guests to use and enjoy! We'll be announcing new events as the month goes on, including sponsors and guests.
