Description
Winter is the perfect time to begin or revisit your journaling practice. The holidays are over, the evenings are dark and long and it is a good way to connect to yourself and your intentions for the year ahead. I have been keeping a journal as part of my studio practice for years amassing volumes of drawings, collages, writing, lists and paintings. I absolutely love having a place to put my thoughts and ideas, tiny objects I collect, and record the things I notice that inspire me. On any given day in a safe little book, I can reflect, embellish, sketch or paint a page. In this evening workshop, I will give hints on setting up a workspace, introduce you to materials both traditional and alternative and provide you with loads of prompts for both visual and written journal entries. I hope to share my love for spending a little time in this creative space and that you will feel inspired to set aside time for yourself, creating a visual and beautiful chronicle of what matters to you most. What you need: A mixed media journal of your choice-size and shape are your personal preference. Any favorite pen or pencil. Optional: any materials you may have. What I will have: Loads of materials to explore and experiment with including but not limited to: Gouache, ink, watercolor, colored pencils, ink pads, stamps, adhesives, collage material, scissors, brushes, markers, stencils, fabric, ephemera etc. The Uproot will provide: A cozy atmosphere, coffee and tea and light snacks for the event.
