Description
Join us for a night and two days on the Pigeon Roost Trail in the Hobbs State Park Conservation Area in Arkansas near Rogers, Arkansas. Hobbs is Arkansas’s largest state park, spanning a 12,054-acre tract of Ozark landscape along the southern shore of Beaver Lake. It’s an asset to the ecosystem with minimum human impact. The visitor center includes exhibits about the park’s natural resources, limestone landscape, and history and is definitely worth visiting. We've scoped out the trail, reserved our camping spots and we are prepared to support your experience on the trail while having a GREAT adventure with YOU! Although this is a beginning backpacking adventure, the trail is rated as moderately difficult and strenuous due to several hill climbs. It's hard going but beautiful. The trail winds through narrow hollows and up and along rugged ridges. It travels through stands of native pines, hardwoods, and typical Ozark vegetation. There are several locations that offer great views of the Van Hollow branch of Beaver Lake. Participants can choose to arrive Friday and arrange lodging or camping on their own. This area has many attractions to explore including outdoor adventure, night life and fine art. We can highly recommend the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. We will work to connect those who sign up to facilitate carpooling plans. WHEN: Saturday March 25th 11:30am check in time - we should be off trail by mid-afternoon Sunday. WHERE: Pigeon Roost Trail, Hobbs Creek Conservation Area, Arkansas WHAT: Backpacking! Two full days and one night on the trail for an EXCELLENT ADVENTURE! We will provide a gear list prior to the event and provide any assistance you might need on the trail throughout the entire adventure. We will provide use of our water filter for drinking and cooking on the trail. What are you paying for when you go on a backpacking adventure with the Dirty Girls? We have a Lead Guide for the adventure. Her job is to reserve campsites in advance, set the pace of the hike and stop for breaks at regular intervals. DGA also provides a sweep, who hikes at the back of the pack. Her job is to problem solve any struggles customers are having and support them through the adventure. All DGA guides monitor trail and weather conditions in advance and during the event to promote safety, and continually monitor participants to ensure all is well. Guides have significant experience on the trail and in supporting a group along the way. DGA also fosters an environment of “No Dirty Girl left behind” i.e. noncompetitive, supportive adventure, with opportunities to meet and get to know like-minded people! Guides frequently share historical information about the region as well as information regarding the local plants, animals, etc. The guide is also equipped with first aid materials and the ability to call for emergency extraction. In case you are wondering about our refund policy – refunds are given up to two weeks before the date of the event when the refund is requested in an email directed to [email protected]. After that, there are no refunds. Dirty Girl Adventures may cancel an event due to weather or conditions. Everyone will receive a refund if that is the reason for the cancellation. We will paddle and hike in cool, rainy or snowy conditions. Cancellation only occurs in severe weather or other dangerous conditions.
