Description

Dirk Powell is widely known as a passionate “musician’s musician” to Americana audiences, not only for his stalwart commitment to Appalachian and Cajun tradition but also his songwriting and work in film and TV. He has toured with artists like Joan Baez, Eric Clapton, and Rhiannon Giddens. His daughter Amelia grew up in the bayous of Louisiana, immersed in the culture of her grandfather, cajun fiddle hero Dewey Balfa. Her singing and vocals have been in high demand since she was a teen. For this show, very special guests Sammy Lind and Nadine Landry of the legendary Foghorn Stringband will be joining to form a truly powerhouse ensemble. Sammy and Nadine bring their own hard-driving and soulful energy to the mix. Together, this is a band of familial energy, emotional original music, and the raw power of tradition at its most free. Opening the show are the SLO County Stumblers. The Stumblers play hard-driving old time fiddle tunes and spirited songs, heavily influenced by the golden-era string bands of the 1920s and 30s. Their performance is filled with humorous stories and banter and is guaranteed to get feet moving across the dance floor. DETAILS: ADMISSION:$25 advance / $30 door (subject to availability) This show will be held at Bristol's Cider House in Atascadero. Doors will open at 6pm with music beginning at 7. Seating is first come, first served. COVID-19:The use of facemasks is encouraged but not required. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home.
