Description

Encourage early learners’ natural curiosity in nature and guide them in multi-disciplinary learning experiences! PLT uses interdisciplinary curriculum to teach students how to think, not what to think, while using trees and forests as "windows to the world." Join your Nebraska Forest Service for a new professional development opportunity centered on a brand-new curricula offering which connects little learners and the nature in their neighborhood! During this workshop, we explore activities from Project Learning Tree’s "Trees & Me!" Curriculum guide focused on early childhood students grades pre-formal school through 1st (ages 1-6). We will highlight the perfect springtime activities you can add to your curriculum right in time for Arbor Day celebrations! "Trees & Me" is designed to provide opportunities for young children to experience nature, with a particular focus on trees and is an invitation to increase the quantity and quality of the experiences your children have with nature. It provides fun experiences to explore elements of nature, both indoors and outdoors. Participants will receive a copy of PLT Trees & Me curriculum, a certificate for 2 hours of in-service credit, and the background knowledge to implement these hands-on heads-on experiences in their work with youth right away!
