In honor of Women's History Month, The Suffrage Coalition, Inc. and American Entertainment Works, Inc. present a film of the new musical A Vote of Her Own. Set in 1920, our musical tells the story of the last campaign to pass the 19th amendment, granting American women the right to vote. The musical was filmed at our theatrical premiere in Knoxville at the historic Bijou Theatre before an enthusiastic audience in August 2022. Original songs by Candace Corrigan and Janne Henshaw, Book by Candace Corrigan Music was arranged by Daniel Bondaczuk and recorded at MTSU studios. Orchestra: Middle Tennessee Sinfonietta, directed by Jeffrey Keever The sound for the film was recorded and mixed by Cosette Collier. The film of our new musical was sponsored in part by a grant from the Knoxville Suffrage Seed grant fund. The screening of this film is sponsored by MTSU's Department of Recording Industry and Women in Audio. Three screenings- evening showings on March 24 and 25- doors open at 6:30, show time is 7:00. Saturday, March 25 afternoon - doors open at 1:30 and showtime is 2:00 pm. A reception will follow each of the screenings.
