Description

As we look forward to the coming Spring, Valley Neighbors is excited to offer our first commissioned artwork print, designed by Jessy Hanson at Arrowleaf Creative. This poster centers the historic Flathead County Courthouse, one of the Flathead’s most iconic buildings; with “welcome” in English, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Arabic splashed across the image, we hope that this artwork will serve as a record of our community’s welcoming spirit. In a "pay-what-you-want" donation drive, orders are encouraged through this EventBrite page at a suggested donation of $50. Each order comes with a 11” x 17” poster and five 4” x 7” postcards. Pick-up will be Friday, March 10 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm and Saturday, March 11th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Pick-up location will be via drive-up at Bethlehem Lutheran Church’s parking lot (603 S. Main St., Kalispell). We seek to raise $2,000 through this drive. This past year, Valley Neighbors has been fortunate enough to have received the overwhelming support of our community in welcoming new neighbors. The tumultuous events from the past year have been felt throughout the globe, and many of you may have seen small changes in our community as an influx of newcomers have arrived, seeking safety from the war in Ukraine or from societal collapse and violence in Venezuela. With a rapid increase in clients needing support, Valley Neighbors has quickly adapted to connect as many people with medical services, educational support, legal representation, and housing as possible. As many new neighbors are settling into the second half of their first year in a strange new country, they face the first steps in what will be a long and arduous legal journey. Legal and housing support are our largest expenditures. Even with our community’s generous support, we routinely do not have the capacity to meet all the housing and other support requests we receive. Beginning in October of 2022, the Biden Administration introduced a new humanitarian parole program allowing Venezuelans to come to the United States when connected with a US-based, qualifying filer. Valley Neighbors is actively working to connect sponsors to the loved ones of our new Venezuelan neighbors. As always, we are grateful for each of you and all you do to make the Flathead Valley a more welcoming place for newcomers! IMPORTANT NOTE: Though Eventbrite will ask for you to choose a day for pickup, feel free to pick up your poster either day.
