The Delta Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. would like to announce our 59th Annual Bernadine Newsom- Denning Scholarship Ball. The scholarship Ball is our signature event serving as a means to thank our supporters for another successful year of programming and service to the community. This event will take place Saturday, March 18, 2023. During this event we will be awarding a scholarship to one deserving eastern Michigan university student who has met our academic criteria and has written an outstanding essay addressing the ball’s theme. It is our hope that the theme, scholarship recipient’s essay and our keynote speaker inspire our guests to reflect and to create the positive roles we would all love to see in our community. This year’s Delta Week theme is “Essence Magazine”. This theme is used to represent the hard work and dedication the African American community has done to create a safe space for us to highlight and show gratitude to the milestones we are reaching. Throughout the week each event will have the chance to show the importance of the African American Community by taking the cover of the magazine. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is an organization based on women embracing their purpose and channeling their power to be an impact on their communities. This year for our 59th Bernadine Newsom-Denning Scholarship Ball, the event will grace the cover of Essence Magazine with the theme “Embrace Your Power.”
