Celia Cruz, universally known as the Queen of Salsa, used to call out "Azúcah!" ("Sugar!") in and between her songs. Celia's music is about strength, resilience and the tenacity of Afro-Cuban roots. Melao de Cuba Salsa Orchestra is a 10-12 piece latin band based in Portland, Oregon. Performing in Oregon and Washington venues since 2005. Javier Solis opens the night by leading a salsa dance lesson at 7pm. The Mekong Bistro and Lounge provides an elegant dancing venue. Delicious food and drink. Parking lot is available.
